Yes , I ran breakin oil and stayed off the freeway for over 1,000 miles as Jerry asked .
I sure hope it's not the rings but I have a buddy who has a Leakdown Tester , this nifty tool injects pressure into the cylinder when it's positioned @ TDC and gives a percentage of leakage result , IIRC I'd like 85 % or better .
This device also helps tell you where the leak is , you listen in the oil filler cap or exhaust pipe for a hissing noise of the air escaping , this tells you if it's a cylinder or valve problem .
If the leakage is minimal and no hissing is heard , I'd bet the oil use is from valve guide oil seals .
I'm still running Diesel rated Dino oil .
