[diesel_mercedes] Re: Computer V8rus Help ?

Here's what I would do:

Download crap cleaner (free) from ccleaner.com
Run the ccleaner registry cleaner over and over until it quits finding stuff
check the list of what ccleaner tells you is set to start up (startup tab) - google stuff you don't recognize. You might find the virus name there. Turn off all startups you don't need, like auto updaters and stuff like that. Write down any virus name you find and make sure that that "program" is set to NOT start up (you'll see how to do that in ccleaner).
Uninstall AVG
Now restart the computer
If you had found a virus listed in the startup list, search for it now and change its name from whatever is is .com or .exe to .VIRUS and it won't be able to run again. However, if it turns out not to be a virus, you can always change the name back.
Install an antivirus (AVG, Avira, whatever) and run it.
Restart and run ccleaner again.
That should take care of most virus problems. Some of them are persistent and can reinvent themselves when you start up the computer even when you've told them not to start. Sometimes you have to turn the virus's startup setting off in ccleaner and then restart into safe mode to be able to change the name to .VIRUS
