That's really weird - did you find out why the piston stopped? What did the rings and valves look like? Was your timing OK? Any breaks on the rockers, any uneven wear on the cam?

Why do you suppose that washing and super filtering will help. A centrifugal filter would sort all that anyway.

I don't think it could have anything to do with wvo either. Please expand upon your thoughts.

I was running my Detroit Diesel on a mix of filtered WVO and petro D, did about 5000 miles & then one of the pistons stopped while the other 5 kept going - $12,000 later I decided that there was more to running WVO than just filtering. If and when I use it again I will filter it wash it,( to get out the salts and sugars) dry it, & filter it again.
I do not think the WVO caused the failure, but since I am not sure I pay the $500 per tank full, (144 gal tank) for petro D.
