Re: [diesel_mercedes] fuel filter woes

Greetings,

I pulled this out of my archives.

Authored by one of our most knowledgeable members.

I hope it helps.

Enjoy!

I was able to find the clear line from a local hose
and hydraulic
repair shop when I was in the
biz. This was not just the local parts
store
which also made up hoses but a speciality
shop.
There is no need to replace the metal
ones. I was not perfectly clear
on which ones
you are talking about but thought I should mention
that.

As for bleeding the pump. It can be
time consuming. Do take care not
to overheat
your starter in the process. Let it rest several
minutes,
15-20, between grinding sessions of no
more than 2 minutes straight.
Hand bleed it
with the primer pump but that will not get the air out

of the lines to the injectors. I always left
them barely loose while
cranking the engine
with accelerator pedal fully pushed to the floor.

Or loosen them one at a time while cranking
with pedal to the metal.
Once you see fuel
coming around the loose fitting tighten it and go

to the next one. It may start running one only
one or two cylinders
during this. no worries.
keep on until you have bled all injectors.
DO
hand pump it until you have all the air out of the
feeding lines
and filter prior to cranking the
engine. Loosen the metal lines at
the injector
and watch for bubbles and fuel. If you are concerned

about the starter any Benz, even the automatic
transmission ones can
be pull started, but that
is another story.
Good Luck, Happy motoring and Happy
Holidays.
